Autumnal
Tea harvested in autumn in Darjeeling and
Assam is called Autumnal. It is harvested in the few weeks after the
summer monsoon rain and before the onset of the winter, i.e. before the
end of the vegetation period. The quality of this autumn tea differs
from year to year. Due to the nearing end of the yearly growth period,
the leaves contain only very little tannic acid. Therefore, the fine
aroma can be developed to its fullest when the autumn experiences a lof
of sunshine.
