CTC
Crushing, tearing, curling
When the processing method CTC is employed (in use for approximately 30
years), the leaves are torn into very small parts by excercising
pressure (usually with the use of metal disks). By employing this
shortened production process, which emphasises an equal leaf size as
well as an infusion which is heavy and quickly darkens, the production
costs can be reduced significantly. This tea is especially suitable for
English, Russian or Frisian blends. This type of tea is mainly used in
tea bags.
